Fury

Post by Mark »

I just saw this episode on Spike last night again, and I still can't figure out what the hell it was about. Kes left Voyager and catapulted them closer to home as a parting gift. She "ascended" to some higher state of being or some such. So why the hell would she come looking for Voyager for revenge? She *forgot* all that the crew supposedly meant to her? Oh come on. And how did she become coporial again?

Stupid episode.

If Voyager hadnt taken her she probably wouldnt of assended since Tuvok helped her and expanded her abilities, she wasnt happy with assending so decided to destroy Voyager.

It might be a bit daunting for a mortal to become god. Could very well drive you nuts, power corrupts.

Yeah, because there's just no way anyone would want to have supreme power.

That's all well and good, and I could stomach Teaos' rationalization, except "young" Kes was able to talk "old" Kes down. If she truly snapped as a result of the power she attained, rather than as a development of her neurotic hatred, she shouldn't have been recoverable.

There is always something that can pull a snapped person back to reality. I've seen a guy go nuts and start trashing his own place in grief until he broke a picture of someone which snapped him out of it.

Exactly my point. The guy went nuts due to grief, and there was a trigger which could bring him back. If he was born with a congenital neurotransmitter deficiency which caused bipolar or irrational and violent behavior, seeing that picture would have done nothing for him.

Its the same thing with Kes, the tirgger was having her powers explode and being cut off from everyone, her saviour was her younger self reminder her who she really was.

That's what I'm saying - her fit came from being pissed at Voyager's crew, not as a natural result of powers too great for her brain.

No her powers made her nuts and she choose Voyager as the target of that rage.

If that were the case, "young" Kes shouldn't have been able to talk her down.
