The term you seek is sapient which typically means that one is capable of acting objectively, rather than subjectively. IE: humans and a few assorted mammals qualify as sapient. A dog would be sentient.Reliant121 wrote:

Back to the old adage about Klingon ground tactics
"Bringing a batleth to a phaser fight?"
Not the BEST of all moves.

Re: Would you do a Ransom?
I agree with the space-viking assessment of Klingon ground tactics, but here's the rub; why would the evolve something more intelligent when everyone else you fight is so damned stupid that said space-viking tactics have worked for so long?

To preserve the lives of your troops. Yeah, I know Klingons think it's great to die in battle.Mikey wrote:I agree with the space-viking assessment of Klingon ground tactics, but here's the rub; why would the evolve something more intelligent when everyone else you fight is so damned stupid that said space-viking tactics have worked for so long?

Best way to win a war isn't to die for your country. Make the other poor bastard die for his. That's why the Klingons havent moved beyond their little realm of space against any other major power.

Re: Would you do a Ransom?
I never quite got their attitude, honour is important. So what gets you more honour, dying while screaming like a lunatic or excelling on the battlefield and adding new territory for your Empire?Mark wrote:Best way to win a war isn't to die for your country. Re: Would you do a Ransom?
I guess that would depend on the Klingon in question. On one side you have Martok and Worf.........and the other Gowron and Duras. What I meant by saying that is while honorable and glorious to die in battle, a dead hero isn't usually as useful than a live resource.

Not to mention that Alexander grew to maturity in the space of what, eight years?
There is only one way of avoiding the war – that is the overthrow of this society. However, as we are too weak for this task, the war is inevitable. -L. Trotsky, 1939
