Little nit in "By Inferno's Light"

Post by Captain Picard's Hair »

I just thought of this when writing the Dom War "What If." Suppose the Founders had been successful in blowing up the Bajoran sun - might that damage the wormhole? Would they be cutting off their only means of getting to the AQ?

It's quite possible.

Doubt it. The wormhole is made by the wormhole aliens. They would counter any negative effects.

Hadn't the entrance also been strengthened in the previous episode, when the founder impersonating Bashir sabotaged their attempt to collapse the entrance?

That happened in the ep, shortly before he tries to nova the sun.

If they knew at that point they were going to nova the sun, then couldn't the founders have hardened the entrance to the wormhole specifically to withstand the effects of the sun going up?

Normally, I would say "probably" - ST wormholes seem to have a lot to do with neutrinos, and there would be a lot of interaction with a nova. However, in this case (as many here of mentioned) the wormhole was artificially created and stabilized by the "prophets."

Who's to say the wormhole aliens couldnt make a new one if that one got damaged,

If we can't be certain a nova going boom nearby would faze the wormhole aliens, what of the attempt moments earlier to weaken the wormhole with the whachamaTECHit beam? Couldn't the "Prophets" in principle have shrugged that off if they wanted to? To be fair, that beam was precisely calibrated, although lacking the power of a nova.

The beam, modified by the Bashir infiltrator, did have an effect on the wormhole based on what the sensor readings were stated to be, though the opposite effect than what was intended. So, we can't entirely say that the wormhole is beyond the influence of mere "corporeals."

(BTW, these are two separate questions/points here)

The mere linear corporeals can affect the Prophets, as we found
when a Pah Wraith took over Kieko O'Brein.

Blowing up Bajor's sun,
might not affect a closed wormhole,
but any ship coming out of the wormhole
could be in trouble.

BTW
Earth's sun will eventually expand to a Red giant
engulfing the inner solar system, out to past the orbit of Mars

Th e pagh wraiths weren't corporeal beings either, though.
