Amongst other things:
1) Ben Sisko's old man, Joseph.
2) TNG era 'optional pressing of the comm badge to respond to calls or to instigate a call....otherwise don't bother and you'll get the same results'.

Oh, and whilst I'm on, 'optional crew' as well. By that, I mean you seem to be able to more than adequately operate a runabout by telling the computer to perform any function you'd care to (change speed/fire weapons/transport/communicate) and it does it. As long as you've got security clearance to use the panel, seems to me any old fool can fly a starship Why not transfer this functionality to say, a Galaxy class star ship and make all the crew redundantthelordharry wrote:Amongst other things:

What if you get you automation knocked out?
What then?
And repairs can't be enacted

Well that's easy, "Computer, fix automation" Failing that, "Computer, activate emergency Chief O'Brian EEH". If all else fails, point one of those twisty screwdriver things with a blue LED on the end of it at the problem and sorted!Reliant121 wrote:What if you get you automation knocked out?

How can you tell a computer to fix itself, if the very system that allows it do as you ask is destroyed. Thats like healing your heart several hours after it stopped beating.
