RP-Wargame Poll for Game Medium

Post by Monroe »

What a horrible title for a thread I apologize.

Vote for as many games as you have (you can vote for all if you want and revoting is allowed). Also if you can feasibly get a game without too much trouble go ahead and vote for it. We may combine games and have a FPS version depending on the universe its set in.

Anywho vote away!

How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Not really a PC gamer... I have the old SW Battlegrounds, but I imagine that we're looking for something more strategy-based than shooter. On that note, anyone still considering an Inquisitor-type small-scale deal?

Galactic Battlegrounds is different. SWGBG is a RTS based on the Age II engine.

Oh and people could still participate in the actual RP even i they don't have the game. They just wouldn't be a commander :P

I voted SW:GB, it's the only one I have. Hope it runs on Vista.

Looks like its going to be down to DoW and SW:GBG (since i'm thinking one of the people who voted for Galactic Battle Grounds got it mixed up with Battlefront).

Each one has its advantage and disadvantage. With a Star Wars game we can introduce X-Wing Alliance, Jedi Academy, or some other things for a medium too. But Warhammer has a huge following here so we can get a lot of people interested that way. I'm not exactly sure if I can run my SW:GBG online since its sort of not bought >.> So if anyone would like to let me guinie pig test it with them let me know :)

I didn't vote, but I had made that same mistake in a post.

Anywho, the lack of the proper medium, as well as time constraints and all that, would mean that Monroe's solution would work out for me - I could suck it up and be a follower.

Okay once the poll closes on July 3rd I'll post which one we're doing but I did check out SWGBG and despite having an uh 'cheap'? version it works fine so I'm game for that as our medium but we can also use X-Wing Alliance and Battlefront if we'd like or amybe some others if anyone can think of one.

Also I have DoW and it works fine if that wins in the poll. Either way I'm going to setup a storyline with a deffiant ending to the RP.

Right here.

I still think the Vassal thing is probably still the best idea, but, hohum.

In other news, the new Dawn Of War 2 (not an expansion, a brand new engine) is designed to basically be like the 5th edition rules, smaller scale and much more like the tabletop. Its only just been announced, though, so its probably still yonks away.

Hmmm... interesting...

I know Rochey has some experience with Inquisitor - any thoughts from Eire?
