Parts of Lake Tahoe closed after chipmunks test positive for plague

According to the El Dorado County Public Health, plague is naturally present in some areas of California.

People hiking and doing other outdoor activities should avoid contact with animals. They should do the same for their pets.

Plague is an infectious bacterial disease that tends to be spread by chipmunks, other wild rodents and their fleas. For humans, symptoms can show up within two weeks of exposure to an infected animal. They include fever, nausea, weakness and swollen lymph nodes.

If caught early, it can be treated with antibiotics.

Ahh good. 2021 will be know as the year of the chipmunk plague. Seems about right.

Well, the plague's never went away. We just have the methods to treat it now.

I think also most of us actually have natural counters from it since we the descendants of the Plague survivors. I could be wrong about that.

I am almost at that point where a plague might be a good thing now. Just accelerate the filtering process for the idiots.

Yeah. Seven to ten people in the US on average get the plague yearly. This is... it's kinda click-baity, to be honest?

Of course.

Soon or later the Plague could mutate to become the new plague. Something new that scientists cannot figure out fast enough.

They have been talking about a super big for a long time now.
