Learning Blender...

Okay. Learning Blender, and... I don't know what to make as my 'Tutorial Project'.

Options:
Borg Cube
Shuttle Craft
Weapon like a Phaser
Go full Hog and just make the USS Voyager with Internals

Borg Cube
Benefits: Well, It comes with a borg cube anyway. Kind of. All it needs is texture - but it's a "low LOD" (Level of Detail) in the model, as its just six flat surfaces (haha!), but that means that as I learn I can slowly increase LOD while basically having a usable model...
Cons: ... Starting with an existing model and not working from scratch I guess?

Shuttle Craft
I REALLY want to just go ahead and make a Type 8 first, then make, lets just say a mid-sized shuttle that would fit in Voyager but isn't canon... then an Aeroshuttle.
Pro: gives me a sense of size, I guess?
Con: .... would probably need to learn how to 'hinge' the door if I want an animated model.

Weapon
Say, a phaser etc.
Pro: Similarly, sense of size, and maybe even 3D print it if I had a 3D printer
Con: Ugh... I'd have to learn hand shape ergonomics to get it right.

Full Hog USS Voyager interior and exterior as a singular model
Con: I have never done 3D models before so... yeah. That's... too much.

Start easy. It will take time to get used to how the system works. Even if you get that done quickly you can move on to more difficult project soon enough.

Start easy is sound advice. If I were you I'd find a tutorial on youtube for something simple and do that - it will help you no end in learning the controls and how the program works.

My first ever blend was this :
And I did a fairly poor job of it to be honest. But he uses a much older version of blender, and the new one is extremely different. So I'd find something done in the last few months.

I downloaded the user guide to it. It’s rather huge. Thank you for the video tutorials. Also sub’d to the Tutor for you page.
