True. But these way the enemy can bring more ships to the fight. And you suffer loses to your weaker ships.
If 3 Galors are needed to take on a GSC. Than for a single Sov or a Prommi how many would they need 9-12. In the war I would say that the fed had 3 Sov and 3 prommi. So six ships working on strike missions would ty up 36 ships. And we know that there is no way that they could be cought. So to intercept them the Dominion would have to deploy more than just one fleet. Basicly we have 6 ships tying up a force of a 100 ships. I would call that a good use or reasources.
But, they are battlecruisers. I wouldn't want to run the risk of sending that many of them into a single area. What if they had run into a Dominion Battleship and a small escort fleet. Your six ships now run the chance of being lost fighting ships that really wouldn't justify the cost. A bunch of galors and bugs, maybe a Dominion BC? The fewer ships you send on raids the better. If you have 6 ships then you would want to hit 3 or 4 targets. Force the enemy to pick which area to defend against the hammer. You're plan works better for the battleship were building though. I would rather have a sov show up and go "too tough" and make a fighting retreat while the rest of the raiders have the same choice then have all of them get stuck fighting their way out of enemy space.

Your plan isn't so much a hammer as it is a wrecking ball. To stop the battleships they would have to pull the equal of a fair sized fleet off the front lines to deal with them. Use your Sov and Prommie classes for raids at the sametime as sending the Battleship squadron across the border. Launch an offensive on top of this and you will have an enemy six ways from Sunday. Even if your offensive on the border fails, your Battleships and raider groups (sov and prommie) will have cause massive damage. If they pull back to face your Battleships and raiders then your front line fleets will have a much easier time smashing across the border. It's a win win either way.

Excellent strategy, Deep. That sounds about exactly what I had envisioned the use of this ship to be.

Hey bud, its me. If it involves hurting people then I'm good at it. War is just larger numbers but the job doesn't change.

The key to any tactic is to know that at some point your plan is going to fail. So have a plan that is based on your plan failing and then have a plan for that. Then, so on and so on.

Part A - Raiders race the border to attack soft targets,
Part B - Battleships hit the border attack a hard target to draw enemy attention.
Part C - Front line fleets launch offensive to tie up enemy fleets so that they can't stop Parts A and B.

Now you've left the enemy to pick not so much where they can win but where are they willing to lose.
