Or, just use stock voice footage. After all, how many original lines does the computer have?

That's true - you could probably make do with everything the computer has already said in all the series. And it might discourage them from making up new technobabble.

Surely we must be at such a technologically advanced stage that we could synthesise a person's voice now?

It just wouldn't be the same as the real Majel's voice. God bless that woman's soul and keep her in peace.

Actually they have a voice synthesizer that exactly mimics a persons voice. It uses the shape of their voice box and mouth. I've seen it used, it sounds extremely real.

Do they have the dimensions of Majel's mouth and voice box?

Since she's dead, it wouldn't be too hard to get them.

Thats even more wrong than using a different voice.

Thinking back, I'm not sure why I said that. :?

Are you talking about the dimensions of her voice box and mouth, or her actual voice box and mouth?

The dimensions, I believe.

I don't what burial practices were used on Mrs. Roddenberry, but there's a good chance the dimensions of her mouth and larynx are considerably different then when she kept her body above room temperature.

On a related note, I can't believe I just made a salient post regarding the decay of Majel Barrett's soft tissue.

They would be able to heat it up, and since they could do it right after she died, they coudl get it fairly accurate, plus, it's a computer that they use, they can modify the vocal properties if they needed. just saying.

They could always use voice samples of hers from other series.

"Computer, status report"
"You will be Emperor"
"You ain't gonna get off down the trail a mile or two, and go missing your wife or something, like our last cook done, are you?"
"My wife is in hell, where I sent her. She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."
