DITL, collectively, obviously has much better taste than you give credit for.

The Sovereign is that knee jerk kind of sexy. The Nebula to me is a handsome ship but even more than that she's practical.

Didn't say that now did I?
No, when you look at the Galaxy then look at the Nebula the Galaxy is the more graceful ships but the Nebula removed a lot of the stuff that's questionable to me. They got rid of the big sweeping interconnect, the pulled the nacelles in tighter, she gives the impression of someone wanting to build a no-nonsense ship of the line to back up the Galaxys.

Re: Your Favorite Federation Starship Class
No, but you strongly implied it by using the construction "The Sov is x (but) the Neb is practical." In fact, the idea that the Sov isn't practical is almost 100% implied by that usage. That's why I asked for clarification. As to everything else you say about the Neb, I agree. It just doesn't "do it" for me like the Excelsior.Tyyr wrote:Didn't say that now did I?

It's kind of odd. If I had one word to desribe different ships it would be
Soverign-sleek
Galaxy-Ponderous
Excelsior-Tough
Connie (refit)---Proud

If you want to assume that about what I said go for it. My true meaning might have been more clear by phrasing it, "...more practical."Mikey wrote:No, but you strongly implied it by using the construction "The Sov is x (but) the Neb is practical." I don't want to assume anything. I looked at what you said, derived the most likely meaning, and when I noticed it was an unlikely comment I asked for verification. Q.E.D.
Good man. I think she's graceful and strong-looking while at the same time following sound design (for the time period.)stitch626 wrote:Hmmm, when I see the Excelsior, I think "beautiful".Mark wrote:It's kind of odd. If I had one word to desribe different ships it would be

Re: Your Favorite Federation Starship Class
I love the look of the Sovereign, but... those torpedo launchers just aren't right. They're way too small. The ship makes it look like you can just bolt a little six foot long torp launcher on just about anywhere, like one of those little R2D2 CIWS things. It bugs me.
