Say, I was wondering, what happens if I choose to protect myself? I imagine it would reveal my status to the Founders, but I'd survive. Something like that, anyways.

As I understand it, no. They won't discover you and you won't discover them. You'll simply interupt them while they attempt the murder. You guys will both be in shadows. You'll only be revealed if you reveal yourself.

Can someone clarify this, please? I'm not complaining, per se, only curious whether I could've used my foresight here.

Had you successfully protected someone, the founders WOULD NOT have learned your identity, even if you WERE protecting yourself. I would have written most likely something involving a jury rigged booby trap that the founders set off while trying to murder their pick. OR.........a phaser blast coming from a shadowy figure which missed, before the founder slid away again.

Something like that. All I was saying was that the security man and the founders involved WOULD NOT learn the identity of the others during a failed murder attempt.
