I meant in specs, but that's probably still a little bit too high.

What is this new shuttle anyway, it's the first I've heard of it.

Unless it's that one right from the beginning of the RP where my character did a no-show

It also needs a name and general design description.

It also needs to be built. I think that takes priority over coming up with a name.
And what with the approaching war, and Mikey taking XO duty, I think we'll all be a bit busy to finish it off anytime soon.

I thought that this was taking place after a week of shore leave, where the proto-ship was tested in that race. Or at least tested it's engines, sensors and navigational deflector.

For a name I'm thinking the Shadow Fox and for the general design I'm thinking, forward section of a Type 9, rear end and nacelles of a type 10, and an equipment pod(like a mini version of the one seen on the Nebulas) on top.

I think the USS Bangalore was with us at the end of the last mission. May want to include them and the captain who's already been named in this mission too.

There was a two wee k gap between Alpha and Beta missions so that the race could still happen. When the race happnes in the Starbolt thread it will esentially be those people reconning their shore leave.

OK, my post (which I'll upload this evening) will clear that up - I'm assuming/retconning that construction was about 2/3 complete, and I'm assigning it to be finished by a motivated individual.

Size I've got worked out to be around 42m x 25m; in strength, somewhere over Delta Flyer but less than an obsolete front-line ship. I'm trying to get the specs complete, but my stupid job keeps getting in the way. I'll post my stats and my ideas behind them in here when I put them together, and then will invite criticism/ideas.

Well, the job pays for my ISP so I can keep logging on to the DITL forum. :D

And in size, it falls between runabout and bug, slightly toward the smaller end.

OK, here's my preliminary thoughts:

length: 41.5 m
beam: 24.5 m
height: 9.8 m
decks: 2
crew: 2
armament: 3 x Type VII phaser arrays, total output 4000 TeraWatts
standard probe/photon launcher with 20 rounds
defense systems: standard shield system, total capacity 113,400 tJ
standard duranium/tritanium single hull
standard SIF
warp speeds: normal cruise: 5
maximum cruise: 6
maximum rated: 8 for 9 hours
strength indices: beam firepower: 80
torpedo firepower: 125
weapon range and accuracy: 190
shield strength: 42
hull/armor: 50
speed: 535
combat maneuverability: 22900
overall strength index: 152

I had conceived of something similar to a Scout layout (as in Insurrection) although the general outline can certainly vary - extended the winglets a bit for atmospheric operations. I added a lower deck for an 11-man troop compartment and a small cargo bay with entry/egress ramps fore and aft. I also left a bit of room for crawlspaces and maintenance access. For stats, I basically uprated a Scout or Danube according to being a decade or so more modern as well as the larger size and commensurate increase in available power.

Any thoughts or comments? Did I go to wimpy, or too hardcore?
