Stone Roses are good, but not great, IMO.

The Beatles? I think I've heard the name.

And to add to the "I like them less than nails on a blackboard" list -
Morrisey a/o The Smiths - except for "How Soon Is Now."

A fan, eh, Thorin? I take it that you also are somewhat partial to The The, Teenage Fanclub, Big Star, etc.?

I've never heard of the Stone Roses either. :P
At least I can get the first shot in this time.

Not heard of any of those!
I'm one from the oldies, like The Beatles, Kinks, Rolling Stones, to the new(er) ones, like Blur, Libertines, Subways...

I'm not too keen on them myself, actually. Same with the Stones and Beatles.
I can see the Beatles, but you're the ONLY person I've ever met that doesn't like the Stones :o

And the Stone Roses are wonderful. For a while my desktop background of me at a bar with this odd glowing yellow light behind me that made me look divine, and the caption "I Am the Resurrection" =)
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?

Maybe I should rephrase about the Stone. It's just-I honestly think it's time for them to retire, if they haven't already. If they have, then never mind. I do like some of their songs, I'll admit.

I agree with Striker... many folks think I'm nuts, and I certainly appreciate the Rolling Stones' contributions, but I'm just not a huge fan... and I have a cousin who literally travels the world going to Stones shows - far more than I ever travelled to see the Dead - and a Stones concert certainly isn't the biggest spectacle in rock and roll.

That distinction, of course goes to...

And I'm still waiting for your advice on a decent recording of the suite from Hindemith's Mathis der Maler.

Sorry for posting in the thread a little late, but I just have to use this blow-off valve while it's still here. ;)

So, music I absolutely hate? That would be hip-hop/rap! By the IPU's holy hooves, I really hate that music!

And all that commercial cr*p (not sure if I can swear in here) they present as rock or punk these days! For example, my younger sister is totally crazy about that supid song from the Citroën C3 advertisments - "Welcome to My Life" by Simple Plan. That has got to be one of the biggest examples of musical prostitution in the history of mankind. The annoying mix of sweet pop and watered down wanna-be-hard rock is atrocious!
