Not really Tyyr. I know a lot of people who like to just shoot things. And I think Idiocracy is a great example.

Kind of quoting the movie, 'Not just watch a movie for the ass but to care who's ass it belongs to'

And, "Not just play a game for the gore but care who's blood it belongs to."

See the similarities? And I'm not asking for a plot on the scale of Homeworld but something would have been nice. Hell, Painkiller had a better plot than my understanding of Left 4 Dead. A quick bit of dialogue would have sufficed.

What kind of come back is that? lol. I don't think CGI Porn is in a real dictionary and since I used a slang phase naturally I would look in a dictionary of slang words? You made fun of me cause there's no porn in Left 4 Dead when you obviously were too ignorant to know a common phrase like CGI Porn. Maybe I'm being a little harsh as a movie person I see the world constantly. Seriously Deep you're losing your touch.

Oh, a little attempt to redirect attention for your earlier mistake. Cute but flawed. If you want to strike at someone like me you have to defeat the idea. Attacking the person is a waste of time.

When you insult a game, over something you don't know. Insult people for getting you caught. Insult their points because you can't defeat them. Back track your own words in an attempt to recover. You've now spent to much time on the defensive. You need to learn to go on the offensive rather then allowing your opponents the constant chance to pick you apart time after time.

What are you even talking about? What earlier mistake? Defeat the idea? I'm giving my opinion. You're insulted me for saying there is porn in Left 4 Dead when I never said there was.

You guys aren't even making any sense. I said it was like CGI Porn and used Idiocracy as an example. Just switch the words movie with game and ass with gore and its the exact same statement. You've yet to explain how shooting random zombies with no storylines is different than say a movie with no or a lame storyline with a lot of pretty explosions. Its CGI Porn. Now you can argue that its still a great game and you have a right to that opinion but I don't even know what you're talking about by getting all defensive.

Hey if you like CGI Porn props to you. Transformers 2 and the like are made for you. I like plot and characters I care about. *shrug*

I'm so confused. I give my opinion and you cry and cry and cry call me names then say I'm grumpy. I'm a little confused because you aren't making any sense but far from angry. I think it bugs you two so much because there's nothing you can say to counter it because its an -opinion- backed by what the genre is. I say its like the CGI Porn in a movie, you don't know what CGI Porn means (which isn't that bad on your part I can forgive that) so I explain. I think it bothers you so much cause I struck a nerve. Maybe a bit of truth?

This reminds me of the Empire thread but you've got even less to your argument here. I just like plot and characters. If that insults you, if that's too difficult for you to understand sorry about that. But if you just don't care much about it, then that's your choice. There's no back peddling here, there's no intent to be insulting here. I just think I, as a consumer, an entitled to more than GCI Porn. Especially from a company that is known for providing great storylines. If GCI Porn is all you want then go for it. I still stand by my opinion that a storyline separates an amazing game from a fun but forgettable game.

So, there's NO plot at all in Left 4 Dead?
There is only one way of avoiding the war – that is the overthrow of this society. However, as we are too weak for this task, the war is inevitable. -L. Trotsky, 1939

There's an infection. It turns people into mindless, rage filled killers that want to beat uninfected humans to death with their bare hands. Some of the infected mutate into inhuman creatures with the same mind set. A handful of individuals are immune to the disease. You play as one of four such immune individuals as they try to fight their way through various zombie filled locals, trying to reach one of the military evacuation sites.

That's your plot.

There are five missions in the first game. All are part of the plot line.

Okay well that's some plot then. I just think games, like movies need plots. I don't understand people who think games don't deserve plots.

Since there are plenty of people who make movies without plots, I'm not shocked.

So I reread the thread trying to see why we're even having an argument here. If Left 4 Dead does have a reasonable plot that's fine take my stuff as games in general. Can we agree that games need plot? Or do you disagree with that?

They don't need it, but it sure helps.
