And how thick armour can modern weapons penetrate?
Depends on the round and the type of armour.

The standard 5.56 AP NATO round used by most Western nations will go through 1/4" steel. The 7.62mm NATO AP will go through more but I don't remember the exact width.

I could also see Stargate happening in real life because its top secret and we'd never know about it.

Well, Teal'c was a First Prime and he took the title from Bratak (sp?) who was obviously still quite the warrior. Therefore Teal'c was basically a "best of the best" type.

Yeah, it also made SG-1's job a lot easier. :)

Having decent weapons also helped.

Observe.

P-90 are such great weapons! I wonder if the US will ever replace the MP5's for them.

The biggest problem with the P-90, while it's a good weapon, is its 5.7mm calibre. The MP5 uses 9x19mm, which AKAIK is the most common round in the world - which makes logistics a lot easier.

This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TDI_KRISS_Super_V
is a pretty damn impressive weapon. I caught it on an episode of 'Future Weapons' at my ex's house.

"Popular Science" had a write-up about it, too. That rate of fire, for a .45 round, with as little recoil as it has, make that a very impressive weapon.
