I will admit, I never did and probably never will understand why thread-necroing is so bad. *Shrugs* To me, it's more annoying to create a new thread-takes up more bandwidth and is derivative. But, that's me.

It's not inherently evil - it's just this: You look at a thread that hasn't been active for 6 months. It's new to you, so you come up with a witty, salient, and insightful comment, and you post it. Now I see a new comment and go look, but I have no idea to what your comment refers, because I haven't seen the preceding dialog for 6 months.

Mikey, you may have just created a causality loop by waiting so long to reply to this topic.

Huh? He only responded a few hours after the other guy.

Okay... although usually I just reread the last few pages or so. *Shrugs* And on other forums, I've seen people post topics and other posters put up "We've got a thread for that right here!" or something like that. So it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other it seems.

Not all of us particularly want to have to read back through a year old thread just to figure out what one comment meant. If it's new information on the topic that hasn't been brought up before, then simply creating a thread and saying "Hey, I was looking over that old thread about X when I realised that no one had mentioned Y." is far easier.

Seems silly to start a new thread over something that we already have a thread about.

Like Bush giving himself a bonus because he gave himself one last year. :laughroll:

That and brand new transportation for himself. New armored cars, SUVs and a few helicopters and a remodel of Air Force 1. Good thing that US troops aren't in need of ammo, body armor or armored transports or armor plated Hummers themselves right!

It was the right time of year for dead threads to return to life and haunt us... :takecover:
