Anyway, does anyone else think its odd, or redundant, that two Star Trek movies in a row involve some form of uber ship?

Romulan uber-ships at that.

Though, the Narada is just a mining ship. In the 24th century, he wouldn't stand a chance against Starfleet, so he had to travel back in time to get his revenge for the Vulcans' refusal to help save Romulus.

It's only an uber-ship because of the disparity in technology.
