The KE isn't in any shape to mount such a war. The UFP would join on their side and force a stalemate.

Not maybe, Sloan even stated it would take another ten years to rebuild. Even if the Mirror-KDF is as weak as it seems, the KE just isnt in shape enough too fight a war. They need time to rebuild and rearm.

Wait........maybe I misunderstood. I was under the impression that you were referring to "our" Klingons attacking the MU Klingon/Cardies.
Is it the other way around? If so, I'd have to agree with you.

Doesn't really matter who starts the fight. The MU doesn't have the field experience and the KE doesn't have the power it once did. Neither is really strong enough to finish off the other.

Wait... the first few seasons od DSN? Then the Khitomer Accords are in full effect, right?
That means in war, the Federation would be treaty-bound to fight.

The Feds have a rather loose idea of what the treaty of alliance (which is probably separate from the Khitomer Accords) compels them to do - the two occasions on which the Klingons invoked it, during the Civil War and the invasion of Cardassia, they refused to get involved.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:That means in war, the Federation would be treaty-bound to fight.

Indeed. Hell, they weren't even going to get involved in the Dominion War until they came under direct attack.

Well, in truth, the Feds did plan for the start of the war. Drawing off the Dominion fleet to DS9 and then attack the shipyards.

Not to mention fleet build ups, upgrades to the station, Red Squad (I beleive this was for the coup that Leiton attempted), upgrades to ships ect. And the Federation did start the war with the Dominion by buildign the minefield. The Feds have been shown that they will start a war if there is no other opition.Deepcrush wrote:Well, in truth, the Feds did plan for the start of the war. Does erecting a defensive position count as starting a war?

I'd call the mining of the wormhole less of erecting a defensive position and more of blockading a major route. It'd be like someone minging the panama cannal.Mikey wrote:Does erecting a defensive position count as starting a war?

Yeah basicly by minign the Wormhole, the Dominion in there view had no choice but to attack DS9. Knowning that would be the start of the war the Feds launched an assault on a shipyard.

to be more accurate it'd be more like the US blockading the canal (back when we still owned it), not exactly an act of war if you closing off something you own from enemy use.Lighthawk wrote:I'd call the mining of the wormhole less of erecting a defensive position and more of blockading a major route. In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
