Yeah, but what's that got to do with fixing anything?

Anyway, I used to sell trucks, so I know the size you're talking about. The trans cooler isn't really an issue itself, but I've known Dodge trucks (anecdotally, admittedly) to have some trans issues - so with the use you're putting it to, I just mentioned to be better safe than sorry. I don't mean to scare you, though - all the issues I've ever seen were in half-tons, not heavy-duty trucks.

See what you wanna do is empty that thing. It's a little known fact that the fluid in the trans cooler is just to make the truck go faster (it is red after all), so if you drain it than you extend the life of the tranny by reducing the workload. :poke:

And that's just from the first series. I think someone in the props department has some issues they need to resolve, personaly.

I got the reference. The idea was that with equipment like that, Torres wouldn't be using them to actually fix anything...

oh, never mind.

I appreciate the need for long-range shuttles and quite honestly am surprised there's not more talk of them. If nothing else, I'd think we'd have a lot of civilian warp sleds out there, just designed for going between systems. I somehow don't expect a civilian to be travelling at warp 9 from place to place an ultra-high tech ships. But there's no reason for civs not to be able to have transports that'll get you warp 7 or 8 for medium-range interstellar travel.

Not to be dense or anything, but don't they already have long-range shuttles? They call them "runabouts" or something.

Yes, quite true, but aren't their cruising speed significantly lower?

Not very surprising, given their size - they haven't got enough room for a big a warp core as a starship, therefore they're going to be significantly slower.

did someone bumb this thred?

and as to the runabout's speed, I believe it has a max warp of 7 so it's not overly slow.

Nope - warp 5, according to "Dax" (the episode, not the character).
