Posting images

Post by thelordharry »

Hi Ian.

What's the best way to post an inline image these days?

I've tried the 'insert image' hyperlink. Never seems to work despite the underlying image being suitable.

The 'GoogleDriveImage' I suppose, is a little obsolete now as Google Photos is the thing now and photos no longer backup to GDrive.

So what's the best way? Sure, I could drop in a hyperlink, but having the image right there can be fun too.

Thanks.

OK, seems I've had a bit of success posting an image using the img 'open and shut'.

I got a Google Photos photo to post but only after I right-clicked on the image and 'opened in new tab' to reveal the full, proper URL with .jpg at the end.

However, any other tips or insider knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

That's the trick. the Img tags work with images, not with web pages that contain images. It is a subtle difference. Most web browsers allow you to right click on the image and say 'Copy image location' or some equivalent text. That is what you provide to the forum. They can be .jpg, .gif or even .png.
