Halston Sage from Orville has a new gig

Post by T'Pau »

Her new show is "Prodigal Son", showing on the FOX network. Whereas she isn't featured prominently yet, the show is outstanding! After it's initial run of episodes, it went on hiatus as the network ordered a full season.

Is it just me, or does her name sound porn star/stripper-esque?

I liked Prodigal Son, though it did take me a while to stop thinking Sage's character would solve something by using her super strength.

I liked her replacement better. But I did like her as a young officer type.

So did she get written out or did she leave on her own?

I'm not entirely certain. There was talk that she and Seth dated briefly, so perhaps she didn't want to be around him after a breakup. Or maybe she found the makeup thing a drag and fancied moving to something where she could be human. Or maybe the popularity she had in the series just opened doors that weren't available before.

I would say, they gave her a really loving sendoff. Contrast with Denise Crosby's "Oh, whups, she's dead now". Alara got a whole episode centred around her and her reasons for leaving, an emotional goodbye from the other characters, and the door wide open for guest appearances or even the return of the character to full status (contrast with how Crosby was shoehorned in for her returns).

That says to me that she left on very good terms with the producers.

It's a shame, because she was a great character. I love the idea that she was fast tracked for political reasons and how she struggled with being so inexperienced and lacking confidence. It gives her strengths and weaknesses, hurdles to overcome, and it's a great setup to get the audience wanting to see her succeed. She was probably one of the better-drawn characters on the show, and I hated to lose her.

At least she is free of that awful wig and ridiculous prosthetic ear nonsense that never looked good.

Hoping they give her more to do in Prodigal Son when they return from holiday hiatus next week.

Prodigal Son appears to be dropping an episode here and there, to stretch out the remainder of their season content over time.

It is still one of the best new shows I've seen. Great cast, excellent writing for those actors, and portrayals of characters done to perfection in some instances.

High recommend it!

Season finale of Prodigal Son: Whoa! Wow! Didn't see that or that or that coming! Best cliffhanger in a long time for a prime time tv show!
