Last Saturday parents put their 13 year old Irish Setter Molly to sleep. My parents spent $7,000 to remove cancer and tumors when she was 9. Vet said she had at best 2 years. She lasted 4.5 years after that and it was painfully obvious during December that she was in incredible pain and discomfort. Her urine became the color the fruit punch.

Also as of today, my Mom's total gutting of the kitchen is coming along. New floor, new cabinets are being installed. The microwave, stove/oven and dish washer will be installed tomorrow. Granite countertop will be in next week.

Me, my boss has made it evident that he will be retiring finally in the next few months. I will take over for him and hopefully his pay too lol

Sorry to hear about Molly. I know that feeling well, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

Most of our pictures in the forums and in our now-gone avatars are so old that we can have our own "Deadly Years" repost!

Whelp, back in my day we didn’t have no fancy avatars, we had vax VMS relay “fingers!” And it was good enough for us!

And you used smoke signals and the Pony Express for message boards, right? :P

We're now living in Chico, CA., in some nice clean apartments. We have everything we need and nothing we don't. I'm pretty sure my wife and I have PTSD. The kids are resilient, especially my youngest. When we were driving through the fire, I was white-knuckling the steering wheel trying to calm my wife and middle girl, both of whom were crying, and then I hear Heidi say, "oh, no, I'm allergic to fire!" I did giggle a bit when she said that.

Thanks for letting us know. I wouldn't doubt the PTSD. I'm so sorry.

It's amazing the little things that can make us laugh in the face of disaster. Sorry for what you're all going through. Glad you have some kind of normalcy back- a place of your own to call home.

What ever happened to Admiral Mark? That dude had tons of posts and seems to have disappeared about 6.5 years ago, during my own extended hiatus.

I've often wondered about Mark myself, I have a vague recollection of him being on Facebook.

He is, or was. Haven't seen him there in a while, either.

A shame we don't have a "Where are they now?" section... I rather miss Granitehewer (though I've admittedly not spoken to him since about April of 2010) and I'm just curious what ever became of Chakat post-ban. If I recall, he was pretty young and immature - wonder what 9 years did for the man (cat).
