So, first day "live" - that is, working my own real leads, not in a training capacity - at the new job... and I'll know for sure in a week, but I think I landed a client big enough to be based in British Columbia, Canada, but to need collections and credit management from upstate New York to Seoul.

Just a couple of weeks ago it looked like winter was on the way out. Well the nice weather is taking a break as old man Winter won't go away without a fight.

It's not the end of the world though. A short time ago I made a visit to the nearby supermarket to pick up a couple of things: that was a mistake. The place was a madhouse. It'll be a cold week and there's a snowstorm expected that might bring up to a foot or thereabout. I'm sure the store manager was pleased by the traffic but I dropped my basket and turned around; a snowstorm late in winter isn't an impending Zombie apocalypse.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Being a distribution manager, this sucks. My team is largely clearing out because of a Connecticut travel ban and most of my outbound deliveries into NY and southern CT have already been rejected. Moreover, because it is perishable and frozen grocery, it is time sensitive when it comes to things like fresh fruits, bananas (OMFG, the ultimate fucking Goldie Locks of food), and greens, all of which may only have a warehouse life of 2 days. I am leaving here in an hour to be home before the travel ban is in effect. I've put up about 15 members of my staff in hotels so we can continually operate 24/7 as directed, but I'm unable to do so for some reasons, so I'll have a good 30 mile drive that'll take 90-120 minutes tomorrow on a dead highway. Hooray!

Down here the accumulation is certainly on the lighter side of forecasts. How bad is it further north?

12"ish in Northern Connecticut along the 91 corridor. Travel ban is lifted so I'm headed back to work. It doesn't seem awful.

Worked half a day, then spent two hours getting home 7 miles away. Of course, that time includes one assist from a plow truck and twice digging out in the middle of the road.

That's worse than here in CT. I am about 1/2 way to shoreline now, and roads are driveable but slow. I have 29 scheduled shipping personnel tonight, 7 are here. My receiving team is largely intact, I think 9 of 14. My industry is pretty crippled until tomorrow.

The problem here was twofold: a) the bulk of precipitation came during the morning commute and on through the day, so it couldn't have been plowed by high-traffic times, and b) it was as much ice as snow.

Got about two feet around where I live. Had to plow out the driveway four times Tuesday, then get up about 3:20 AM this morning for one final pass before work.
