Yeah, true. The written word can take us places special effects are only starting to get to. My favorite is still Ensign Naraht the Horta. :D

I liked Lieutenant Athendë. I'd dearly love to see a well done CGI of a Sulamid. So far as I can tell, there isn't even a single piece of artwork of them
