My personal Starfleet.
My personal Starfleet.
Okay, so I have the following starships in the Star Trek universe, seen in these pictures:

Now, question being, if I was to use ALL these ships in a massive fleet action, say fighting against the Dominion, what would you suggest using as my personal flagship? Opinions are welcome. ^_^

Pretty much any Trek ship could serve as a Flagship. There's nothing especially magical about flagships, the only real requirement is for them to have spare room and decent communications and sensors.
GCS would probably be the best choice, IMO.

I agree. Problems are 1. I have 6 Galaxy Class ships in my collection (8 if you include the dreadnought). 2. Even so, there are still WAY WAAAAY more powerful ships in my collection. Still, Idk tbh, which is EXACTLY why I'm asking in the first place.GrahamKennedy wrote:Pretty much any Trek ship could serve as a Flagship. As Graham said, pretty much any ship can serve as a flagship. In TNG / DS9 / VOY era we see Excelsior, Defiant, and Intrepid-class ships all acting as flagships for various taskforces. Neither the Intrepid nor Excelsior are particularly powerful, but both are equally suited to serve as flagships, and likely have several labs / rooms that can be converted for command centres.Meste17 wrote:I agree. Also I agree that one of the Galaxy-class, in this instance, would be the best choice.

The GCS makes the most sense. I personally always liked the term Command Cruiser that came from Birth of the Federation.

I tend to use the designation when referring to the Galaxy during times of conflict.McAvoy wrote:I personally always liked the term Command Cruiser that came from Birth of the Federation.

In my mind, each Federation ship has two classifications. One for science and one for war.Tinadrin Chelnor wrote:I tend to use the designation when referring to the Galaxy during times of conflict.McAvoy wrote:I personally always liked the term Command Cruiser that came from Birth of the Federation.

I think it's more likely that they just give them a classification appropriate to their peacetime role and stick their fingers in their ears and whistle whenever someone asks about what happens when the shit hits the fan. Look at the Defiant's "experiment escort" euphemism.McAvoy wrote:In my mind, each Federation ship has two classifications. One for science and one for war.

Isn't the Sov a enhanced deterant explorer?
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I think GK invented that along the lines of other canon descriptions; I could be wrong, but I don't recall ever hearing onscreen what the Sov was classified as.

Re: My personal Starfleet.
I invented the Enhanced Deterrence Explorer label. I thought it was amusing that they called the Defiant an "Escort vessel" rather than a Destroyer (which seems to me to be what it is), and I thought it would be just like the Federation to have the most amusingly benign euphamisms for ship types. EDE was basically their term for Battleship.
(It also amuses me that "Enhanced Deterrence Explorer" gets over 14,000 hits on google!)
