First day back to work after vacation today. It... honestly didn't go too badly. It was actually pretty good overall.

Glad to hear it, Jon. :)

He does put a decent annual mileage on it due to a long commute, anyway it's started to break down with increasing regularity in the last year or two and a recent breakdown needing a four digit repair bill broke the camel's back. He's reserved a new (2014 model year) Ford Fusion SE Hybrid model for around $26,500 (including a few optional extras). I say reserved since the car isn't carried in stock at the dealer and is being ordered but the deal is done.

While waiting for the new car to come in his old one is usable for short trips, though he doesn't consider it safe for regular use or long trips. For now he's getting a ride to work from a coworker.
The good news: the new car has a quiet and smooth ride. The bad news: he only finally got it last night. The quoted post was on Nov 17.

Better late than never, I guess

So on the same day I lost my phone, my laptop finally died. You can dig here to know I have had issues with the computer for the past two or three years. It's the motherboard. I am thinking about replacing the motherboard so I can have a working laptop for the time being until I can pay for a whole new computer.

Oh and still without a cell phone.

Maybe buy one of the super cheap tablets? Not the best quality but useable and will last 6 month to a year.

Maybe. Right now the motherboard is cheap and my cousin does this thing for a living so it will be free for me.

So fix the laptop and need a new phone. I have no access to the internet and no cable. Pretty boring at my place right now.

Got a new phone. A Galaxy S3. Near mint for $97. Half what I was expecting to pay and definitely beats paying full retail price.

Now for the laptop, my cousin and I are debating about making a Frankenstein laptop out of my HP DV7-1285 and a damaged (broken screen) DV7-1245 laptop on eBay for $3.25.

My new laptop just arrived. I'm working on moving all of my bookmarks/passwords over now.

I have found out the HP dv7 series of laptops like mine have serious motherboard issues. The fact that mine lasted this long (it was powered on for 97-98% of the time for five years) was rare. They don't make these motherboards anymore so I have to use a used a motherboard. I have no interest in putting a bandaid on something I was planning on replacing a couple of months anyway. So I am looking into refurbished Dell desktops. I think I can get a decent one for $250.

On a side note, my new classes began last week. I came to the conclusion I am going to have to teach myself Physics II. My professor has a strong Russian accent, jumps all over the place and uses short hand for many things. Oh and she speaks softly. So... yeah.

I've never lost my phone either, but I once lost my keys and then the extra set of keys in less then a month. I did leave my phone in the bathroom of a bar, but it was returned to me.
