Any interest in a new game here?

Post by sunnyside »

I've been pretty short on free time for quite a while, but might have some more in the near future. For a while it's seemed like there were a bunch of games going here, and people already felt overcomitted. However at the moment it isn't clear if any of them are going.

There are a number of game concepts I'd been kicking around, I'll list them in roughly the order of how fully fleshed out they are at the moment.

Aliens vs. Klingons
Anybody remember a while back when I was testing out ship to ship combat? This would be a "one off episode" length game that's largely meant to test out concepts with individual action in a Trek setting.

Green Brass
This is a more elaborate setting, and was meant to be one where I'd bring different groups together (if you know some people who are more into RPing than Trek this would be a good one to jump in on). The upshot is that after the Dominion war the Federation is extremely short on personnel, and to compound the problem many of those stuck in the thick of the fighting aren't quite as...federation as they used to be using banned weapons, illegal body modifications, and acting more like Space Marines than Federation naval personnel in some cases. As a result some very recent graduates have been given temporary promotions and "chief" positions on a repaired Galaxy class ship that had its entire crew (including families) killed during the war. I think the dynamics might be interesting.

A stabase centered game
The idea would be that multiple forces, and indiciduals, have small ships and crews operating for their own betterment, or their organization...or maybe something more, in the area around a stabase (of a new fictional race to keep things simple). Some players would be captains that own ships, and others would be skilled individuals that could choose to change ships at some point. I think that might make the game work with player churn.

I had another, but it seems rather too much like the "Sim" game that might still be active.

Anyway, let me know in any of those sound like something you'd be interested in.

Most forum games rely on everyone being online in close to the same time. I'd prefer a game where different people have their own story lines, mostly intersecting with each other at relatively fixed points. I.e. a PBM sort of game, rather than a round-robin style.
