Torps are simply there for bleed through damage and hull rape when the targets shields go down. QTs and PTs seem to round out the best of everything so stick to them. No one is going to out run you so the CTs are useless, plasma is way to slow firing to be worth it.

Aceton Assimilators only damage out to 5 km range. Beyond that, just park and torp them to death.

Now the really nice one is for the Heavy Escort carrier, the Torpedo Point Defense system is very nice. If you have a bunch of fighters picking away at you, you volley this and they just vanish. Pity about the 3 minute recharge time. Add in stuff to increase torp damage and other boosts, you then charge through an enemy fleet, and make them hurt.

In normal PvE play I agree that Plasmas aren't worth it but in elite STF's they are incredible. The targets there take a lot of killing so your plasmas will have time to hit and will start to stack up the plasma burn DoTs on the target. The romulan plasma torpedo launcher you can get through New Romulas rep are particularly nasty in this regard. Hit High Yield and then volley the torps and you can do massive damage and stack up the plasma burn DoTs just from a single hit.

Plas-DoT is nice and sometimes overall helps but I just need a four weapon forward before I switch to low RoF torps.

The Advanced Escort when you hit 40 has a 4 fore/3 aft set up. Mine has three dual heavy cannons and a transphasic torp up front and three turrets in the back. I need to get some Omega rep with Cesina so I can get a Borg Kinetic cutting beam for that ship.

Just scored a torp volley ability. Fires 8 torps in a burst on top of the three round high yield. Just fries up some ships when it hits.

High Yield fires multiple torps at a target. Torpedo Spread fires multiple torpedos at multiple targets. The downside to spread is that it's an AoE so you're not getting maximum damage from each torp. TS is very nice when engaging enemies like the tholians who love to spray disruption torps at you or anyone using fighters as a TS can clear several of them out instantly.

If you sit back at 9.5km and fire on a target, the spread will target only those ships in range in your field of fire. You can just sit back at long range and then let them all target the same ship. Just tested it out, 21000 est damage against a Negh'var. That was only torps, I didn't fire my phasers during the test.

Oh, btw, the torp volley works best if you're attacking from the aft and away from the main battle line. The 30 sec recharge means you'll need to focus on stripping a shield section of a target ship. Even though the bleed through damage is nice its still best against a hull. You'll get around 3k damage per hull hit.

I've got diplomatic projects up but I'd encourage everyone to focus on the other tab, our engineering and tactical side as that's going to provide the most real benefit to us in the short term. So focus on the Starbase and only do diplomatic stuff if you've got some things you absolutely want to be rid of right away.

I've been hitting tactical and engineering a lot. Replicated God knows how much stuff for it and dumped a lot of fleet credits into it.

Don't replicate. If you need to get items for it go to sector space and prowl around for a cargo ship, get close and you can purchase things from them. It should be pretty much the whole list of commodities and at about 60% of the replicated cost. There's usually a ship not to far from the Sol system. Alternately you can call up the Azure II, I can't remember if it's got a full suite of commodities but you should have the item for their codes in your inventory if you completed the first space mission.

Eh, I wasn't worried about the cost since I have the energy to spare. I've been running so many instances that i'm constantly filled with gear I cant use so I scrap it.

Well you want to hold onto all the EC's you can. Once you hit 50 even a decent rare XII tac console can cost 1.5million.
