I enjoyed it. It had some good old fun action/adventure feel that the story missions don't necessarily have. Maybe I just enjoyed it more because the mission involved known characters and known events. Those tend to be more fun for me.

I was jealous of all those purple items on the mission ship...

It does have some serious kit on it. And the [Fused] tag means you can't take ANY of it with you.

I do love the new ship, even the lvl 3 ship does pretty well for me.

Yeah, I tried anyway.

I love the looks. While the performance is lees than my dedicated science ship, it still does pretty decent.

Having six weapon points for a character at lvl 20 is awesome. I've been setting the autofire and just racing in circles and letting my wall of torps do my talking.

I have a feeling the Fleet version will add another science console and buff the Sci BOffs. It seems to be going for a sciencey cruiser right now so I think they'll improve that.

Won a couple of really nice PTLs, so now I have up to four PTs flying and man does it do damage. May not be the instant damage of the energy weapons but if I have to turn and run for a bit, its nice to have them.

How's it doing without beams for shield stripping?

Also, think about using mostly projectile weapon DOffs in your permanent space slots, they'll whittle down the cooldown on your torps.

They do standard damage against shields, just at a lower rate of fire. However they do exchange in that they do about 30% (50% crit) in bleed through damage to a hull where energy weapons only do 10% (20% crit). My base loadout is two phaser + PTL forward for the shield strip. Two PTLs + phaser aft. The aft is good in that I have a turret on the aft phaser so I can use it to take out fighters or just find a quick target. However TLs as far as I've seen don't rely on your power settings. So if I'm in trouble I can switch to defense mode and let my shields recharge while beating the hell out of anyone trying to follow me. Even better since anyone following me has to keep their forward facing me and it means I'm only having to fight one shield front rather then two or three in a dogfight.

As for my DOffs, I use defensive ones. I have seven shield repair keys, two instant heals for my ship and two SIF styled keys. Been in a number of spots where I've lost all shields and been down to about 20% on my hull. I just click about ten keys, I'm back to full shields twice over, have 2x damage res for 15sec and have a ship that is back up to 60% hull. In 30sec I get to do it all again. The hull repair is every 20sec so i just spend a lot of time clicking that.

Take a look at transphasic torpedoes. They have a big shield pen rating innately beyond regular torps.

Have, wasn't high enough level last time I checked. I think you have to be a Captain.

Well, I got 2 purple poleron cannons along with a purple poleron tac console (very lucky STF), so I'm thinking I'm going to run a poleron cannon ship once I get my Dominion set. Not sure what torps to use with that though.

Torps and beams are independent decisions. No beam console benefits torps or vice versa. I like photons or quantums, photons fire a bit faster and with the rights DOffs you can have a torpedo machine gun set up. Quantums hit a bit harder but fire slower. Transphasics have a 20% shield penetration buff. Tri-cobalts do massive damage but are SLLLLOOOOOWWWWW, same with plasma. I cannot recall the deal with chronitons.

Chons slow targets down, which is a major benefit in the STFs.

I just always make sure to have at least one foreward torp launcher, in order to kill aceton assimilators (they are highly resistant to energy and emit a pulse when hit with it).
