Starts off great but I lost interest quickly after book 1.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Seems common enough an issue, the books are so loaded with detail that it often drives people off. That or the plot is just to complex for some to enjoy.

I think my issue was it was such a dramatic shift to the story line.

Also I fundamentally dont like clones, I feel they take a lot of the drama out of stories if dying can be solved with a quick re cloning.

Same, got upto book 4 I think. The sequels just don't seem to fit somehow.

The original remains my favourite book, I must have read it close to 10 times already, and could start it again right now and still be enthralled.

I didn't get too far. My problem is that I just can't seem to figure out how to forget Frank Herbert's books while trying to read Brian Herbert's/KJA's.

Or he was drinking shit beer, which you have to admit is pretty common over there.

From experience, its just as common no matter where you go in the world if you don't know what to look for. Picking a good beer, lager or ale isn't always easy if you've never gone through the options.

True - in addition, any beer is shit if it's not the kind you like. If I only liked witbiers or lambics, for example, I'd think any Scottish heavy or maibock is shit... no matter how excellent an example of its type it was.
