Favourite Rebel Alliance fighter?

I'm just using the original trilogy films for this one.

Even though its cliche I have to go with X-Wing because it just looks more badass which is very important in a fighter.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I go X as well. The Y-wing is liek the old Phantom, big and overpowered, but too brick like. The A is speedy but fragile. The B... I just don't get it. The X is a good all aroud platform and performer.

A-wing, nimble little dog fighter. X-wing, trusted middle ground fighter that really brought the rebels to the fighter war. Y-wing, old warhorse that while not bad had seen its time past.

However my favorite is the B-Wing. I love the use of the modular design, exchanging weapons by need or simple repair trouble is always a plus. In a SW-RPG, I used a four ion cannon/two laser cannon combo for capturing enemy ships for selling them off. Or a six laser cannon combo for trashing enemy fighter formations.

Poor old Y-Wing...they aren't the most sexy of starfighters. I used to hate hate hate the A-Wing until the prequel trilogy came out then I was so impressed with Obi's very similar Jedi Starfighter that I became an A-Wing convert.

The A-Wing is a great dog fighter but in all honesty it just doesn't bring enough to the table in my opinion. She's good for what the Rebels needed, which was something to even the field against the Imps overwhelming numbers. But a fighter like that doesn't last when its only useful in a single roll.

X-wing. A true classic and icon of sci-fi.

Venreable old Y-wing, kindof reminds me of the P-38 with its twin tail booms.

Hardly. They're very fast, but everything I've seen about A-Wings is that if they get into a dogfight they're in trouble. That's why bel Ilis invented the slash, to make best use of their speed while keeping them out of any close fight.

I've never seen anything to say otherwise. They struggled at Endor Moon but that's not a shock when out numbered a dozen to one. However in the games and EU and databank they are shown in impressive fashion. But I don't believe she's meant for an up close fight. Her missile payload, light frame and defenses with high agility clearly show a fighter meant to use hit and run strikes through combat to engage enemy fighters rather then just trying to trade shots.

I personally like the A-Wing. That and I think when the A-Wing was made they used parts off of a F-14 overwing faring (the panels covering the pivot joint on the wings) to make an A-Wing.
