Zombie attack...

Post by Teaos »

I'm sure we did this years ago but a post in another forum made me think of it again.

Senario, 97% of the world goes zombie over night, reason: quantum.

What do you do when you wake up tomorrow? With what you have on hand now and your local area.

Zombie and slwo and dumb ala Resident evil, Dawn of the Dead.

TO take out a complicating matter, any family you have on the area are on holiday in Fiji when this happens, you have no possible way of finding out if they're okay or getting to them, your only looking out for yourself or any other random survivors if you want.

Considering I have only just moved this week into Brooklyn New York and dont know much about the local area... I assume Im one of the first to fall in about 3 minutes... 4 if I get to the roof.

Gather supplies and small, easily carried weapons that don't need reloading. AKA crowbars.

Baseball bats, axes, shovels or whatever. Guns are useful too.

Keep on the move. Go to the gas station, go to Walmart and stock up. There's a few gun/hunting stores around. Looks like I learn how to use a firearm ASAP.

I would avoid gins due to ammo needs mostly.

I'd go with my trusty Glock 17 (currently at 300+ rounds), my grandpa's WWII bayonet (I'd fashion it into spear form easily enough), and use those to try to get to the Academy (sporting goods store) warehouse about 2 miles from here https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Academy+ ... 15000&z=17. It's a decently defensible position, and stocked with tons of gear, including literally tons of guns and ammo. There are also 3 auto garages and some restaurants right at the same intersection to hit for tools and food.

The warehouse is the big grey building in the front surrounded by barbed-wire fences, and with line-of-sight for thousands of yards in most directions.

First, most people probably don't really know what it is; it's not a regular storefront, or even an obvious thing to go for.

Second, that's what recon is for.

Trouble with guns is that you gotta carry all that ammo with you, it's gonna run out eventually and every shot you fire announces your location to hoards of ravenous zombies.

The key is that the ones that DO know what it is are probably the kind of people that you would not want to piss off to begin with... You will have quality of competition as opposed to quantity... probably even more dangerous.
