If the car was as buried (or more so) in snow as the pic indicates, then there would be a considerable insulating effect. Certainly not comfortable digs, but it would help mitigate the "certain death" aspect of that sort of exposure.

Impressive, and possible that the cold kept him alive.

Very well could have slowed his body enough to allow him to survive. Plus he was is no shortage of water.
