While the SoB did renounce Vandire, they didn't really change their practice of simply killing everyone who they thought didn't pray hard enough each night. The Sa'dus were designed and recruited with the mindset of being servants, its just they got in a fight with their creators and decided to serve someone else. Much like the Horus Heresy, but in reverse.

Yeah, I can see it. I think I'm going to have to revisit my chapter and write up some history and relationships with other Imperial offices.

I'm working on the Third (and thankfully final) Reformation right now. Once I have that worked out I'm going to get into the details of who does what and why. Earlier I tried to just write up the Elites section and found that without a history leading up to it, it just seemed bland. The Elite Section I had started sounded out with a lot of "I said so" answers. Not literally saying that but that's how it sounded which is as I said, just bland.

I picked an event around the time of the suspected Founding and then picked a reason for their founding. Then I needed a reason as to why I've written them in as being so dismissive of the Codex Astartes. I didn't want to say "Because they are fucking awesome and rape you mary sue.

It gets to be harder to avoid that than one would think.

Which is why backstory is important to me. If someone has created a force that you feel is over powered and gives you a response of shrug, its hard to go along with. If someone gives you a story of a force you feel is over powered but gives you a validated reason and history, generally its easy to go along with and maybe say "tone this down a bit".

Third reformation up. Next will be Sa'dus interactions with other factions followed by the write up of the Elites and combat armory.

I was under the impression that there was an injunction against having seperate sevices under the same command after the Horus Heresay. Doesn't having what are basically Storm Troopers under Chapter Command violate that policy?

Yes, it in fact does. No Astartes legion/chapter is to have a standing army of it's own and is to be supported by naval assets based only to it's absolute needs. This, like much of the codex, is ignored by just about every single chapter and that includes the Ultremarines who preach about the codex. Some chapters call them recruits or thralls or huscarls but they amount to the same.

In fact, almost every chapter (as Deep said) inducts their failed recruits into the chapter cult. Chapter serfs, or whatever, are a vital part of every chapter. So what if these guys call them "troopers" or whatever. The DA even go so far as using xenos who seem to be native to The Rock. Hell, even the Adeptus Ministorum can raise a mostly-male Frateris Militia despite the injunction against having "men under arms."

The Sa'dus have a huge problem with what they see as the corruption of the IoM. So a lot of the basic ways of being for the IoM at large aren't just ignored by the Sa'dus but in fact openly defied. In the "relations" section I'm working on you're going to get to see the enjoyment of the Sa'dus meeting an Order of SoB. The meeting starts with a friendly greeting followed by a demand from the SoB that the Sa'dus pay tribute to the Ecclesiarchy. I'm sure you can guess how it goes but I think it will make a nice short story add on.

Well, they are both willing to exchange lead to and from as a matter of fact.
