SFDebris: Hollow Pursuits

Post by Captain Seafort »

Blip

Chuck starts a series on one of the greatest, if not the greatest, recurring crew in TNG. :) Even if he was single-handedly responsible for starting the confusion over O'Brien's rank.

I'm actually a bit more interested in the previews for the next episodes. Twin Peak? My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?! The brony inside me sings!

I like Hollow Pursuits if only for the questions that it prompts about holo-deck use. It's a pretty well put together episode overall and I'd actually have given it a 6 myself.

Yeah, back to the episode, I agree with Tyyr there. A 6, 6.5 maybe.

I agree with Tyyr, and not just for his reason. It also exposes to us one of the "real" people of TNG - one of the huddled masses; one of the flawed, normal men living a life of quiet depseration as opposed to the typical shiny, clean, paragon-of-humanity bridge crew.

Yeah. Barkley's a good guy. He's not perfect, but I'd hang with him after a shift in Ten-Forward.

Trek could have used a few more guys like Barclay.

I don't know. The guy did kind of annoy me.

Cool. I can spend more time with him, then. ;)

I don't think I could stomach Barclay for too long as a personal friend... I'm just saying that it's nice to see people in TNG with actual human flaws and shortcomings.

I did like how SF Debris pointed out the line Riker crossed. Yes, Barclay is under-performing and needs to shape up, and it's Riker's job to get him to... but he crossed the line from professional to personal.

I always though Riker was hot or cold throughout the series. Either's the nice guy with the crew or a complete douche to others.
