What would you do if you were a Q?
I was just watching "True Q" (TNG) with that very cute young woman who had to choose between living with the Q or as a human, choosing not to use her powers. It would be an exiting opportunity for some time to explore and see what is possible. However, it would seem that, having the ability to have any desire at a moment's wish would cheapen any delight you could conjure to almost nothing, since in having it available at a whim strips it of its special rarity. After a while I have a feeling one might start to feel like Quinn (Voy), and want to die for none other than sheer boredom; infinity is a long time!

Well as long as there are UFP captains to keep you amused.....
But seriously, I don't think that would be that gread of a problem, they always can choose not to use their powers and given the size of the galaxy I would imagine there is quite enough to keep them interested indefinitly.
So yeah...after a while one might feel like Quinn but was it every stated how old the fellow was at that time?

I would tread very carefully and try to keep a level head about things.

I'd like to think I would too, but I can't honestly say that such would be the case. In general I think I agree with CPH in regard to ending up like Quinn.

I'd live at least one lifetime as one of every different species and gender in the universe. Probably a lot more than one, because I'd want to try out different ways of living - rich, poor, famous, infamous, loved, hated, etc.
I would think that would occupy many tens of billions of years.

Re: What would you do if you were a Q?
I would advise not to begin with that. It seems like good fun, but as a Q you will have quite some time to live, meaning that once you did that to death, the fun is out of it, meaning you may have killed of a very important way of entertainment.Tyyr wrote:Well this would be a good starting point:

That'd be interesting. I wonder how old Quinn was when he got bored... or if the Q have the imagination of humanity.GrahamKennedy wrote:I'd live at least one lifetime as one of every different species and gender in the universe. It just hit me that under such a scenario, it's conceivable that Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt could have been the same Q, "simultaneously," given the non-linearity of time as a Q experiences it. Did you ever consider that maybe YOU are a Q, who has decided to live a lifetime as a Human and simply suppress his knowledge of what he really is for the duration, so as to experience it exactly as a Human would? <insert Twilight Zone music here>Captain Picard's Hair wrote:It just hit me that under such a scenario, it's conceivable that Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt could have been the same Q, "simultaneously," given the non-linearity of time as a Q experiences it.
