No, it was pretty pedestrian as far as speed. It's strength is it had the turning radius of a car.

Hell older more redundent planes than that were used to great effect in the war. The Bismark was taken downby a Swordfish torpedo plane.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

With caveats. The Bismark had no air cover and it's AAA wasn't designed to depress far enough to hit torpedo bombers.

Nor, IIRC, were its gunners trained to hit anything moving in the air as slow as a Fairey Swordfish.

It was also used because it was all they had, not because it was their first choice.

Not to say that it didn't happen, just that it's not as if they were the go to aircraft because it fit the niche perfectly.
