Well, I finally scrimped and saved enough for a new laptop. Brand I never heard of though. An Acer Aspire. Brand new out of the box for $500 with all the little stuff I wanted. I'm happy.

I got one of those, they're a decent brand.

Yeah, I have an Acer Aspire, not the best, but it works for what it has.

I have an Acer Aspire 5542. Love it, although not the greatest gaming machine its ideal for almost everything else.

Acer tends to make decent laptops and netbooks. They're not out there cranking out top of the line premium gaming rigs but what they do make are generally solid computers.

Right on then. Didn't plan on using the laptop for gaming, so much as DITLing, facebook, hulu, and so forth. Well, porn too :happydevil:

Laptops for gaming just never made much sense to me. Sure it'd be nice to be able to be able to game on the road but it's like trying to run big spread sheets on your mobile phone. Sure you might be able to, but that doesn't make it a good idea.

Just don't get an Acer laptop from 6 years ago... their CPU's tended to explode.

And, now we know what brand Starfleet uses.

The old ones had a problem where the CPU would blow off of the motherboard and parts would violently exit the keyboard.

The new ones are much safer (nothing has happened yet).

Yeah, I can see how that would be a problem. I wonder if this thing could adaquately play any of my older games like Starwars Battlefronts or Star Trek DS9 "The Fallen", or the always awesome Diablo 2.

I was wondering when they were going to stop installing that self-destruct mechanism on laptops...
