The Traveller
So who is this guy? I want to know where he took the Enterprise as well. How far from our own galaxy? Was it like, Andromeda or much further away? Man, Starfleet should get him on their payroll and truly go where no man...no one has gone before...

Re: The Traveller
Vell, ze Traveller's just zis guy, you know...
Good question. It was never clearly defined whether is ability to mentally interact with FTL travel/warp fields was unique, an innate ability of his species, or a predisposition which was promoted through study/training/quantum.

In short, he was one of the many super-beings that the Enterprise runs into every second Tuesday.

Maybe Wesley was doing all the work whilst he was standing around grinning! Maybe that guy who looked a bit like the RIddler from Batman really WAS pulling all the strings

Re: The Traveller
I was always intrigued that the Federation apparently knew enough about the Travellers to know their homeworld, which was well within reach, and trusted them enough to give them access to Starfleet ships. We're used to seeing the Enterprise discover random superbeings around the place, but this is apparently a planet of superbeings which the Federation already knew about and had a ongoing, friendly relationship with.
I don't know if we've really seen that before or since.

Re: The Traveller
You're right, and it might be little symbiotic - the UFP has the fleet and the industrial base to keep turning out more ships; while the Travellers have the quantum ability to make things go really fast, but may not have the industrial base to produce SOTA ships.

Re: The Traveller
I'd love to know just how far they got though. Were they still in the Milky Way? The next galaxy along? millions of galaxies along? Another universe? Probably the furthest a Starfleet ship has gone though

Re: The Traveller
I was always thought it a bit strange the traveller taking wesley away like that - I mean an obviously older man wanting to take a teenager away so he can teach him.... hmmm haven't these people learned anything from the catholic church's antics with young boys!
But I can't throw, I throw like a geek!

The first jump took them through a couple of galaxies, to the far side of M33 - 2.7 million ly. The second jump took them over a billion ly.thelordharry wrote:I'd love to know just how far they got though. Were they still in the Milky Way? The next galaxy along? millions of galaxies along? Simple - I went to ST Minutiae and read the script.

They probably were hoping he'd get molested. Some of them seemed to hate him as much as the viewers.colmquinn wrote:I was always thought it a bit strange the traveller taking wesley away like that - I mean an obviously older man wanting to take a teenager away so he can teach him.... hmmm haven't these people learned anything from the catholic church's antics with young boys!

Um, Wesley was man enough for Robin Lefler (aka Ashley Judd) after all 8)
