I've found it to help with hypertension; and as GK notes, even placebo needles worked better than conventional treatment in the study he cited. I'm pretty desensitized to needles, though.Tsukiyumi wrote:Amen.Cpl Kendall wrote:No way in hell would I let someone stick needles in me unless it's medically required anyways.

Naturally.
Personally, I can't stand them.

Well considering the tech that did my nerve conduction test thought I was going to kill him, might be best I avoid that stuff.

I'm phobic of needles, so I think i'll stay well away from acupuncture.
It takes me half an hour to work myself up to even let the nurse use a needle.

I haven't been bothered by needles since my surgery when I was 14. After getting so much blood taken pre-op they don't phase me anymore. In fact I have a morbid fascination with watching them stick it in.

I was much the same. On the bright side, while I still don't like the things, I don't have panic attacks any more so hopefully you'll mellow as well.Reliant121 wrote:I'm phobic of needles, so I think i'll stay well away from acupuncture.

My wife almost fainted when I showed her my glucagon kit, which is kind of like a cardiac adrenaline needle but goes into a buttock.

While I don't particularly like having needles jabbed into me, I don't tend to have as bad a reaction as most people here seem to.

Well after a month in the hospital getting stuck and poked every day, you start to develop a hatred of them.
Edit: Mostly because (surprisingly) hospital staff can be really, really bad at it.

Bad, or simply getting careless and sloppy because of doing it a hundred times a day? The appearance would be the same.Cpl Kendall wrote:Edit: Mostly because (surprisingly) hospital staff can be really, really bad at it.
It's not my intention to excuse said carelessness, simply to suggest a reason.

Nothing is more teeth gritting then having some incompetent hunting for a vein with a needle big enough to suck spaghetti through.

When I worked at Domino's Pizza, we once made 150 pizzas in one hour. Not one of them was returned or complained about. Why? We gave a sh*t about our work. Is your reason valid? To a degree; even if you're tired and bored, you should have pride in your work, especially if your work involves people's health and sick people's comfort.Captain Seafort wrote:Bad, or simply getting careless and sloppy because of doing it a hundred times a day? If you're tired you slow down and pay extra attention, not jam it in and go rooting around hoping to get lucky.
