Simply put, i would construct my vessels in a almost flatpack way. Make the sections of the hull are interchangable to make replacing entire hull sections easier. I also think that if the Navigational deflectors are damaged there should be a Redundant Secondary & Possibly Tertiary deflector array because if the Nav deflectors fail then small particles will rip a hole in the ship.

Am with you on the interchangable parts.

Primarily, the Saucer sections should be interchangable. Granted, this is impossible between ships or different eras, but the Constitution and Miranda Class ships should have the same saucer section, likewise the Galaxy and Nebula.

Warp Cores should be standardised between ships (assuming they already aren't), even if you have 5 or 10 different sizes for different classes of ship.
