new motherboard problem

This is the stupidest problem. It never even occurred to me to check for this.
The power button cable is too short.

SO what are my options? I would prefer not to have to buy a new case.

If any of these options are more than plug and play kinda things, please give either directions here or a link to directions.

It should be standard so it shouldn't be an issue. Clearly it is. What about getting a new power supply. It will be cheaper than a whole case.

It isn't the power supply, its the case. The power button on the front that allows you to turn the computer on is what we're having a problem with.

I do know exactly what you mean, but unfortunately there is no easy answer I'm aware of. Since those "power on," "reset switch," and various case LED connectors are really no more than pairs of wires going into jumpers one can in principle manually extend them - though just be careful not to mix up voltage-carrying wires with ground!

With the way modern cases are I can see this becoming an issue. Easiest solution would just be to cut them in the middle and splice in a couple inches of the right size wire. Just label everything very clearly before hand so you don't cross anything and go.

Thank you, and yes that is our plan. As soon as the correct RAM comes (Nick ordered the wrong speed).
