Battle of the Century: Teal'c VS Ronin

Post by Mark »

Just as it says. Teal'c, former First Prime of Apophis, hero of the Jaffa. Ronin Dex, elite soldier and former Wraith runner. This has been bugging me since Ronin was introduced on Atlantis.

Here's the stage. Ronin Dex pushes Col. Carter too far with his insubordination and disrespect. She calls her old pal Teal'c to try and talk to him warrior to warrior. Things don't go so well, and they end up in the gym going toe to toe in unnarmed, hand to hand combat.

Who wins?

Teal'c, but only just. No particular reason; just my gut feeling that he'd put the youngster down, though it would be the hardest fight of his life.

I'd also go with Teal'c. He's spent his entire life fighting wars, and hand-to-hand combat seems to be a fairly big part of Jaffa training. Teal'c was also First Prime of the then most powerful Goa'uld, meaning that he's pretty much the best of the best.

Ronin's pretty good himself, though. So I can see it being one hell of a fight.

Ronin's too much of a hothead. He's tough enough that he can bull his way through a situation. Teal'c however has all the advantages Ronin has in terms of strength and toughness but coupled with a tremendous amount of experience and a calm controlled mind. Ronin gets his ass handed too him.

Well in the show when they did this...

I'm guessing Mark hasn't gotten to that episode yet.

Yeah, I was thinking of putting the YouTube clip up, but don't want to give anything away. :)

What season are we talking about? I'm between SG-1 9 and 10 and halfway through Atlantis season 4.

I went with Teal'c. Just felt like he would get it, although tough battle.

Teal'c definately, he's got the advantage in training, skill, and possibly even strength IMO
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Training and skill I can go with, but they look of similar strength, and w\o the symbiote, I get the feeling Ronin could take more punishment. We've seen him get up and smile after getting the shit pounded out of him.

After a visit to Youtube I call it even stronger for Teal'c. The absolute ease with which he made Ronin utterly lose his composure... the two may be about evenly matched in strength and ability, but Teal'c would have Ronin dance to his tune, and rip his head off.

I think its about even personally. Maybe a slight to favor Teal'c.

They are both about even in strength with Teal'c having superior skill and Ronin having superior agility.

That was my take on the fight too. And don't forget Teal'c has been
Stuck on a ship for like 60 years a few months prior to the fight
That would severely hamper his ability to fight Ronin.

Not necessarily. Jaffa do live a long time and don't slow down too much until the end. How old was Bra'tac when he was still kicking ass?
