The Dilgar win the Dilgar war...

...Earth Alliance is beaten back and goes into isolation when the Centauri decide to make them a protectorate. The League of Non-Alligned Worlds is beaten. Would the Dilgar be arrogant enough to start a war against the Minbari? And if they did, how would they do?

The Earth Alliance stomped the Dilgar as easily as the Minbari stomped Earth. IF the EA decided not to get involved the war and took up the Centauri on their offer of an Alliance. Then the Dilgar would have won the war against the LoNAW. Maybe even the Narn later on as the Narn still lacked a heavy warship at the time.

As to would the Dilgar fight the Minbari. Hell no, they didn't even step up against the Centauri who were paper weights next to the Minbari.

The Dilgar would easily clobber the League worlds. The Narn would prove challenging. I think it's about that time the Th'Nor and T'Loth's were coming out in large numbers, and might well be capable of holding back the Dilgar for a while. The G'Quan would probably be speeded up in development.

If the Dilgar did manage to pull off a win against the EA, it would be one hell of a pyhrric victory. A good portion of their fleets would be destroyed, leaving them mostly incapable of continuing to expand. I see them claiming the territory they've already taken for themselves and solidifying their hold there, but being too crippled to try anything further.

The T'Loths never saw large scale production. I think because by the time they were completing their trial run, the G'Quan Class was also ready for service. The biggest shift for the Narn would be if they could Bin'Tak Class out. The Dilgar had nothing to match them and would have been game breaking.

This might not be a bad thing for the EA though. Given the speed in which the EA can recover. They would have had plenty of time to finish the new class in development - the Omega! The Dilgar would have been crushed and the EA would have been a few years behind in their plans to expand. Plus they wouldn't have the ego trip that they had after the Real Dilgar War. Dukhat would have lived which means his plans for open talks with the EA would have gone as planned.

That depends a lot on just how bad the EA's defeat is. If their shipbuilding infrastructure is destroyed during the war, they're going to be in trouble. But if it's just the loss of a few fleets and a "defeat" due to public opinion turning against the war, it won't be much of a problem.

The Dilgar seemed to be a genuinely evil race. It's hard to judge such things from one individual and a few snippets of accusations and info from the other side, but if things like "she infected a whole species with a deadly disease just to see how long it would take them to die" are even remotely true then Deathwalker certainly seemed to be on the evil side, and given that she seemed to be operating with government support... yeah, evil.

But they seemed to be concerned with the minor races. I'd guess they took Earth on largely because it was an unknown quantity at the time - nobody knew much about Earth, and the Dilgar probably took them to be just another minor species and got the shock of their life - literally - when they realised what they'd tangled with.

I'd guess that the Dilgar would know better than to take on the Narn or Centuri, let alone the Minbari. But if they won their war and conquered many of the minor powers I think they'd be elevated to the big table themselves, taking the place Earth got in the actual B5 universe. And without Humans there to gather everyone and unite them... the Shadows and Vorlons would have tromped over everyone as usual.

The Dilgar didn't take Earth on, we cold cocked them, jumping into a battle in the Tyree system and saving the League forces who were almost defeated. The show makes it clear the Earth did it out of the blue and the Dilgar never attacked us.

Damn skippy, it wasn't the Dilgar that were trying to take the stage, it was Earth Force.

Yeah, the EA did it to get some interstellar street cred. The Dilgar were trying to save their race, apparently they were unaware that you could colonize other planets and preferred to just kill things and break stuff.

It was listed by Mongoose before their contracts for B5 ended. A lot of what they hinted towards, including how the Dilgar managed such a quick series of victories over the LoNAW and the Narn when they shouldn't have been able to. Though its not solid and never confirmed if they intended it to be canon or not.

Of course the League and EA were stone cold bastards and confined the Dilgar to their home system till their sun went nova and wiped them out.
