'Star Trek' draws $72.5 million

Post by LaughingCheese »

Don't know if anyone has seen this, but according to Yahoo Trek earned $72.5 million in its opening weekend, and execs said they'd be pleased with $50+ million, so I think a sequel is most definitely a go!!!! :angel1:

Paramount's "Star Trek" launched in stellar fashion during the weekend as the sci-fi prequel soared to $76.5 million in estimated domestic boxoffice in its stretched first frame.

Thursday evening previews contributed $4 million to the total and midnight Thursday performances $3 million as the well-reviewed film re-invigorated the studio's storied franchise with an opening smack in the middle of an unusually broad range of prerelease forecasts. Paramount execs had said they'd be pleased if "Trek" traveled anywhere north of $50 million during its first session.

Um... The opening weekend isn't over yet, lol, so they could get 100 million by the end of today.

Yeah, it is, but if it made 100 million in the opening weekend, that would make it the movie of the year!

I'm sure I saw an interview on youtube with Chris Pine and Zachery Quinto that said there's already been a signing for another one...
