Best Series?

Post by Sionnach Glic »

Well, now that it's ended, which series of nBSG did you think was the best?

Series 1, it had the feeling of desperation in fleeing (especially the first three episodes) and hadn't dived as far into the religious and emo themes yet.

Dont you mean season not series? Series would be the original and the new one, season is the yearly 20ish episoded.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Apparently in merry old England (and Ireland) series also refers to season.
"All this has happened before --"

Aye. Series = season over here.

So what does our version of series equal? You just refer to it as "the show" right? (I think this discussion has been had before...)

Yup, we call a series "show", and season "series".

For example:
"Series 1 of the show Star Trek : Enterprise sucked"
"You've all been selected for this mission because you each have a special skill. Professor Hawking, John Leslie, Phil Neville, the Wu-Tang Clan, Usher, the Sugar Puffs Monster and Daniel Day-Lewis! Welcome to Operation MindFuck!"

Maybe I should have added "in particular"?

The mini-series was great.
Season 1 was also great and probably my favourite of the whole show.

Season 2 was great until they settled on New Caprica. Altough in hindsight a logical step the whole "one year later" out of the blue didn't sit well with me because it came at a time were I felt the characters finally settled in and become a nice team like an Enterprise crew only to be broken apart again. Also the whole "they have a plan bullshit etc" was completely interrupted and it felt like watching a different show. It was rather hard to pick up again in season 3 because it really felt like it was over and to me it was hardly interesting what happened on the planet. To be fair, if watched on dvd without a few months break it is easier to watch but quite one of the worst cliff-hangars ever imho.

Season 3 was quite nice when you come to terms with the new caprica arc and had quite a few nice moments. Tigh killing his wife was - at this time - shocking and the Exodus was quite one of the highlights and as far as I am concerned it was probably the last time on the show you could feel good about anything. On second thought it was also very nice that they killed starbuck, at least for a few episodes, it did the show good not beeing centered on....such a person. Alas it didn't last..... . On the negative side, characters are starting to behave erratic imho. Lee suddenly feeling the urge to become a lawer for instance.

Season 4 was not bad but the trend started with Helen is continued to the point that you got the impression they didn't want to pay their actors anymore. Everyone you knew and cared for is either killed off for no good reason or happens to be a cylon. I especially despise the suicide of Dee and the way they got rid of Geata. Their fate would make every red shirt proud but felt very wrong for really likable characters already having survived 3+ seasons.
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store on the Citadel.
