How is this show???

Postby Mark » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:55 pm

I've NEVER seen this show. I've seen the movie and it was cool. I'm asking because there is a used bookstore next to where I work and they have a bunch of seasons for sale for $14 bucks each. What do YOU all think? Should I pick 'em up?
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

It's awesome. Start from the beginning, if you can.

Agreed. Definitely worth getting, and definitely start at the beginning.

I'm going to agree with Blackstar, if you've found it that cheap then buy everything you can.

Definitely get them. One of the best sci-fi series there is.

I'll chuck in some negatives. While quite entertaining, it can be fairly bland, and gets quite repetitive. I never really learned to love Richard Dean Anderson's wise cracking version of Col McNeill (quite different from the film) though his Kirk/Spock style relationship with the well played stoic Jaffa warrior Teal'oc is quite well done. The James Spader charactor was also well played. (the actors who played Teal'oc and Dr Jackson, where, IIRC Christopher Judge and Michael Shroud, I was never sure which was which)
But for $14 for a season? A mere seven quid for a season box set of a fairly good, if IMO not great, series does sound like a bargain to me.

Christopher Judge = Teal'c
Michael Shanks = Daniel Jackson
