I'm not sure if any of you know about this but there's an account on Twitter that's 'live tweeting' events from 1939 as though they're realtime. It's from a British perspective.

It's a novel idea and the project will conclude in six years time, mirroring the end of the war.

The same people stupid enough to invade Russia. England would have been a cake walk next to the waste that was Barbarossa.

I've attempted to set up accounts 9 times. It works for a while, then deletes all my tweets, following, followers, etc. I've asked Twitter support for help, and they have been far less than helpful. So I eventually gave up and returned to Facebook. According to Twitter Support I am not the only one that has had these problems, but I don't know what they're doing about it. But needless to say, having everything deleted and starting again from scratch (the accounts themselves don't get deleted) is rather frustrating.

Hardly. At least they had a chance of winning in Russia, albeit an extraordinarily slim one. Sealion was some staff officer's stand up routine that was accidentally swapped for a real plan. Take the plan for getting armour across the Channel, for example:

1. Take Rhine barge, sail it to Calais.
2. Assuming it survives the trip, winch tank into barge.
3. Tow barge across Channel.
4. Hope it isn't sunk by RAF/naval gunfire/destroyer's wake/moderate wave.
5. Beach barge, use explosives to remove bow to allow tank to exit.
6. Tow barge back across the Channel.
7. Repeat steps 2 - 6 until victory.

I assume the difficulties inherent in combining steps 5 and 6 are sufficiently obvious that we don't need to go into the various lesser problems of the operation.
