Episode 10 Believers Nit

Post by SuperSaiyaMan12 »

How does a race that doesn't do surgery and is so damn stuck to their obvious bronze age religion ever get to Space Travel?

They most likely don't. Better bet is that they have and or let other people carry them about.

Well if you think about it there's nothing in biology that says you can go to the stars that you can't discover after maybe a dozen dead astronauts :P
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Thats even easier if someone just comes along who already has space travel and just sells you or tells you how to do things.

I forget what they were called but it was the episode with the child who had some kind of illness and the doctor wanted to perform an easy operation but the family absolutely refused it. So they took the child and left leaving the child to die when he didn't have to die.

Oh yeah, I recall it now. I rationalize it as them belonging to a sect like the JW or Christian Scientists (odd name) that don't do medical care or blood transfusions (the JW's), yeah we can make it into space that doesn't mean we don't have wingnuts.

They didn't take the child until after the doctor did the surgery against their wishes. Since they believed his soul was 'gone', they killed the 'empty shell' saying it wasn't their son.

Oh yeah. That was even more of a sad story.

In return I'd empty several shells from a shotgun into each of them so that they can share the empty feeling with their son.

Sinclair should have detained them for committing murder on his station as well as issued for all governments to blockade all this backward's races shipping routes.

Pretty much.

Thats just stupid for two major reasons along with I'd bet at least dozen minor ones. First, a station commander can't command the LoNAW to blockade anyone. Second, who's going to agree with something that doesn't effect them where the cutting of trade would.

He also should have charged Franklin with disobeying a lawful command (IIRC he did the surgery against the families wishes and the orders of his CO).

So it's up to one earth man to decide what is and isn't right for the galaxy and assign punishment as he sees fit? It may be an idiotic belief, but it is their religion. It's hardly humanities right to tell everyone else what they can and can't believe.

Bingo. While we could argue the moral side of this, the legal side is pretty black and white. Franklin was in the wrong there.
