I forget what they were called but it was the episode with the child who had some kind of illness and the doctor wanted to perform an easy operation but the family absolutely refused it. So they took the child and left leaving the child to die when he didn't have to die.

They didn't take the child until after the doctor did the surgery against their wishes. Since they believed his soul was 'gone', they killed the 'empty shell' saying it wasn't their son.

Thats just stupid for two major reasons along with I'd bet at least dozen minor ones. First, a station commander can't command the LoNAW to blockade anyone. Second, who's going to agree with something that doesn't effect them where the cutting of trade would.

So it's up to one earth man to decide what is and isn't right for the galaxy and assign punishment as he sees fit? It may be an idiotic belief, but it is their religion. It's hardly humanities right to tell everyone else what they can and can't believe.

Bingo. While we could argue the moral side of this, the legal side is pretty black and white. Franklin was in the wrong there.
