How would you do a Fiftieth Anniversary?

Post by RK_Striker_JK_5 »

Well, 2013 is coming up, marking the golden anniversary of the show. So, if it were up to you, how'd you mark it? A series-long celebration? A two-part special? Multi-Doctor reunion with a recasting of Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee?

I think I'd do a stand-alone, reuniting as many of the Doctors as whose original actors are still alive. It would be nice to see a select few companions united, too: while the Brigadier and Sarah Jane will lamentably only return in memory, it would be nice to gather Susan Foreman, Leela, Romana, Peri, and Amy. And K-9. :)

If we're bringing back old doctors & companions I'd like to see how Rose reacts when the older doctors totally ignore her & treat her like the older companions rather than the Tennant era "you're so special to me" malarkey.
But I can't throw, I throw like a geek!

I'd like that too, except it would mean needing to have Rose around.

Also, everyone must wear typical Gallifreyan ceremonial wardrobe:

That costume... it just fits with the Time Lords. Although I vastly preferred the ones from the War Games.

Anyway...

Multi-parter, natch. Four-five episodes at least. I'd bring back all the Docs, recasting Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee and stick a wig onto Tom Baker. First episode would be a double-tribute to the Brigadier and Sarah Jane/Nicholas Courtney and Elisabeth Sladen. It would lead into the meat of the story, not sure how. I'd bring back Rose-if only to show her compared to those two icons, she was kinda small potatoes. ;)

I mean, come on. Sarah Jane was the Doc's best friend! He even said so! She'd whine about not being the center of attention, and comparing her to Sarah Jane... cathartic, eh? ;)

As for other companions...

Susan Foreman, Ace, Leela, Ian and Barbara, Sergeant Benton, K9-good call there, Mikey. Not sure who else. Maybe Peri, but I don't remember much about her.

Oh, Jamie! Gotta have Jamie!

As for enemies... the Master? Davros and the Rani. Hell, throw in the Meddling Monk and the War Chief for the hell of it. Daleks, Cybermen, Zygons, ice Warriors, Weeping Angels... the whole lot of them!

And Colonel Mace, and...

*Sees Mikey, Seafort, Ian, Graham and everyone else staring at him-or more glaring at him*

I'll be quiet.  :D

Ace over Romana? Well, I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla...

:bangwall: I knew I forgot someone! It's just Ace... she's got the scene, you know? The crowning moment of Awesome?

!ouch) "Who you calling small?!" *WHACK*

But yeah, Romana there too. And... River.

Yeah, how did I forget her?

All in all, though, my idea for an anniversary special might start with having a friggin' season in 2012! Jerks.

In one word: Run!

Seriously though, probably a big long episode.

Just so long as they don't repeat the stunt they tried for the thirtieth... *shudders*

The worst form of drek ever to darken a television. Then they went and crossed it with DW.
